Session 3: On-chain credentials in practice, and the run-in to the deadline

Saturday 17 October 2026, 18:00 UTC. Led by Jonathan and Harry, with Ubio supporting.

Watch the recording (unlisted).

The first working session with learners live on the platform, and the first recorded end to end. The first assignment was reviewed and a credential released during the call.

What we covered

How the on-chain mechanics actually feel. Every assignment you submit is an on-chain transaction, and part of each one is a deposit you get back when you mint that module's credential. Across the eight modules that works out at roughly 20 ADA to have available, with a good share of it returned as you collect credentials, and Edify refunds the course fees on top. The small cost is deliberate: a course you have put something into is a course you finish, rather than one you start and drift away from.

Why module 000 matters. Completing Orientation proves you can do the whole on-chain loop - set up a wallet, sign a transaction, receive your access token as an NFT, read the material and submit an assignment. Once you have done it once, every other module works the same way.

What the credential is for. A credential is a portable, verifiable record that lives in your wallet and does not depend on us. The longer-term model is that credentials unlock paid on-chain projects and bounties: complete the prerequisite modules and you can pick up work that requires them. Modules are asynchronous and standalone, so you can mix them across courses - a project might ask for 000 and 100 here plus a module from SPO Academy - and take them at your own pace.

Wallet notes. Lace has become noticeably smoother: it sets up collateral for you, so you can mint your token without extra steps. Eternl is a long-standing community wallet but needs collateral switched on manually on a new wallet. The Andamio onboarding video walks the steps through on Lace. Keep your recovery phrase safe whichever you use.

Your feedback, captured

Two suggestions from the call are going into our report to Catalyst:

  • Add more substance to the Orientation module rather than leaving it a pure intro.
  • Give a submitted assignment a visible review status - a queue position or a countdown - so you are not refreshing the dashboard wondering whether anyone has looked. A pseudonymous system has no built-in notification, so this is about managing expectations. We looked at ryp.io (Reach Your People) as one on-chain way to connect the two sides.

Keep it coming. Feedback on the material is a deliberate part of what this cohort is for.

The deadline

Submit your group's assigned modules by 12:00 UTC on Monday 26 October. That gives us a cross-section of completed work across every module to put into the Catalyst close-out report. It is this weekend plus the working week, not long, so make a start now.

Group 2 still needs people. The groups are unbalanced, with nobody yet on 400 Market Biome, 500 Internal Biome and 600 External Biome. If you have not claimed a group, claiming group 2 in Discord is the single most useful thing you can do.

GroupModules
1200 Your Journey Toolkit, 300 Your Essence
2400 Market Biome, 500 Internal Biome, 600 External Biome
3700 Your Journey, 800 Leadership Playbook

Everyone gets access to all nine modules afterwards, whichever group you are in.
